Handbook

This is a condensed version of GC Gymnastics Handbook for complete information see Gayla.

GC GYMNASTICS - We are a competitive and recreational group.  Each gymnast develops at their own rate, we strive for every gymnast to be the best they can be and attain the level appropriate for them.

CONDITIONING - Conditioning is an important part of gymnastics.  Proper strength training provides the athlete with the ability to perform the skills more easily and with less chance for injury.

FLEXIBILITY - Flexibility provides the athlete with a greater range of motion, and reduces the chance of severity of injury.

CLUB FEES - Club fees are due on the first of the month.  Payments for GC Gymnstics classes are made to GC Gymnastics, please use drop box in the front office. Payments and enrollment for the Garden City Recreation classes are made at the GC Rec. department.  All classes are held at GC Gymnastics 2860 Schulman in Garden City.

ATTENDANCE - It is important for all gymnasts to be on time and ready to work in order to take full advantage of gymnastic practices.  GC Gymnastics uses an eleven month training calendar to allow gymnasts to continue to progress and not regress on specific gymnastic elements.

ENROLLMENT in GC Gymnastics classes - Students may enroll at anytime.  If you have previously filled out an enrollment form and address, phone number, etc. have not changed you are not required to fill out another one.

ENROLLMENT in Garden City Recreation Dept. Classes.  Classes are hosted at GC Gymnastics, students attend at 2860 Schulman.  Enrollment is at the Recreation Dept.  Classes are 6 weeks in length with one week off in between. Students must enroll in each 6 week class.

GENERAL INFORMATION - Dress appropriately for gym. For SAFETY - Pull hair back and out of face, Remove all jewelry, bows, ribbons, etc. Do not wear tights to gym as they will cause the gymnast to slip on equipment.  Leotards are preferred, but not required - shorts that are not baggy and a t-shirt that can be tucked in is OK.

PARENT - Parents are allowed in the gym to watch gymnasts the last 15 minutes of class.

COMPETITION - If a gymnast decides to compete some expenses include:  Competition Leotard, Travel Expenses, Coaches fees, and Meet fees.  If you would like more information on competition or wish to join the GC Gymnastics booster club see Gayla for more information.
